Turmeric Powder · Waigaon (GI)
High curcumin, deep colour
GI-taggedWhere it grew
Waigaon, Wardha, Maharashtra
Waigaon Turmeric carries a Geographical Indication, awarded for the unusually high curcumin content and dense, dark-orange rhizome that the soils around Wardha produce. We work with a small cluster of farmers in the Waigaon belt who plant the traditional Waigaon variety, cure on-farm in earthen pits for the prescribed days, and sun-finish before our mill picks up. Lot-by-lot we test for curcumin, lead and pesticide residues.
